- NCYCL has no account, no login, no adverts, no analytics and no tracking. We never sell your data.
- Your rides live on your phone. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share it.
- Your location is used only to record your ride. Bluetooth sensors and the barometer are used live to show your stats.
- Your photos and videos are only opened when you add a route sticker, and only saved if you ask.
- If you use Live Share, your live position is sent to our server while the share is on. Anyone with the link can see it. It stops when you stop it, and expires automatically.
- If you upload or download a GPX route, that file goes to our server only for that feature, and expires automatically.
Who we are
NCYCL is an independent cycling computer app for iPhone, made in Scotland. For any privacy question, contact support@ncycl.uk.
What the app stores on your phone
Your rides, settings and generated images are stored locally on your device. This includes your recorded route, speed, cadence, heart rate, elevation and the tags and names you give your rides. This data is not sent anywhere unless you use one of the sharing features below.
The app uses a random device identifier, stored in the device keychain, to tell one phone apart from another when restoring rides. It is not linked to your name or any account.
What leaves your device, and only when you choose
- Live Share. When you start a Live Share, your live location and ride summary are sent to our server and made available to anyone with your share link. The share ends when you stop it, and any stored data expires automatically afterwards.
- Route sharing. When you upload a GPX route, the file is stored on our server under a short code so it can be downloaded. Route files expire automatically.
- Exports. When you export a ride (for example as GPX, FIT, CSV or JSON), the file is created on your device and only goes where you send it.
What we don't do
We don't require an account. We don't show adverts. We don't run analytics or track you across other apps or websites. We don't build advertising profiles, and we never sell or rent your data.
The website
This website sets no cookies and does not track visitors. It contains no advertising or analytics scripts.
How long we keep data
Rides stay on your device until you delete them. Live Share sessions and shared route files are temporary and expire automatically. Because the app is private by default, there is no central copy of your rides to delete.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal data, including access, correction and erasure. Because NCYCL keeps your ride data on your own device, you are in direct control of it. For any temporary data held for Live Share or route sharing, contact us and we will help.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted on the blog.
